The PDF to Word converter extracts the text and layout from a PDF document and reconstructs it as an editable .docx file. Use it when you receive a PDF that you need to edit, update, or repurpose and no longer have the original Word source.
PDFs are intentionally difficult to edit — they're designed for final, read-only distribution. But real-world workflows regularly require editing received PDFs: updating a contract with new terms, correcting an error in a client's document, or extracting a long report's content into an editable draft. This tool provides an editable Word version.
How to use it: upload your PDF. The tool extracts text blocks, detects headings and paragraphs, and reconstructs a .docx with the closest matching structure. Click Download .docx to open it in Microsoft Word, LibreOffice, or Google Docs.
Accuracy expectations: text-based PDFs convert with high text fidelity. Complex layouts (multi-column text, magazine-style formatting, heavily formatted tables) may require manual cleanup in Word after conversion. Scanned PDFs (image-only) require OCR first — enable OCR mode for these files.
What is preserved: text content, approximate paragraph structure, bold/italic formatting, table data (as Word tables), detected headings. What requires manual adjustment: precise column layouts, custom fonts, floating text boxes, and complex table formatting.

- For PDFs created from Word or another word processor (text-based PDFs), accuracy is high — paragraph structure, headings, bold/italic, and table content are faithfully reproduced. The layout may need minor adjustments, particularly for multi-column text or floating image positions.
- Enable OCR mode. The tool runs Tesseract.js OCR on each page image and inserts the recognized text into the Word document. Formatting is approximate (OCR doesn't detect formatting, only text), but the content will be editable.
- Yes. The output is standard Open XML .docx compatible with Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer, Google Docs, WPS Office, and all major word processors.
- PDF is a fixed-layout format — content is placed at exact X/Y coordinates. Word is a flow-layout format — content reflows based on page width and styles.
