PDF Stamper

Add a text stamp (CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, or custom) to every PDF page. Free online PDF stamper. No signup, 100% private, browser-based.

How it works

The PDF Text Stamper overlays a text label — CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, APPROVED, FOR REVIEW, or any custom string — on every page of a PDF document. The stamp is rendered directly into the page content using the Helvetica Bold font, with configurable size, color, opacity, and position (six anchoring options: four corners plus top-center and bottom-center).

Stamping use cases: legal departments stamp every page of documents sent to external parties with CONFIDENTIAL. Compliance teams stamp DRAFT on documents awaiting final approval to prevent premature use. Architects stamp FOR REVIEW on plans submitted for permit review. Teachers stamp SAMPLE on handouts that will be replaced with a purchased edition. HR teams stamp COPY on duplicate records.

How to use it: 1. Upload your PDF. 2. Enter the stamp text (CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, or any custom label). 3. Choose position — bottom-right is standard for legal documents; top-center for approval stamps. 4. Set font size (12pt for subtle corner stamps; 24pt+ for prominent center stamps). 5. Pick color (red for CONFIDENTIAL, gray for DRAFT) and set opacity (50–70% is typical). 6. Click Add Stamp. The stamped PDF downloads immediately.

Opacity guide: 100% opacity produces an opaque stamp that may obscure content — use only for labels you want clearly visible over whitespace. 40–60% is the typical range for stamps that are legible but don't obstruct the document body. Below 20% may become illegible on screen.

Privacy: stamp rendering uses pdf-lib in the browser. No content is transmitted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add a stamp to only specific pages instead of all pages?
This tool applies the stamp to every page uniformly. To stamp only specific pages, use the PDF Page Extractor to split the document, stamp each section separately, then merge the results with the PDF Merge tool. For per-page stamping control, a desktop PDF editor like Acrobat or pdftk is more appropriate.
Will the stamp obscure the underlying content?
At high opacity (80–100%), yes — the stamp text will visually cover content beneath it. Position the stamp in a margin area (corners or edge centers) at a lower opacity (40–60%) to make it legible without blocking the document body. The bottom-right corner position at 60% opacity is the standard for CONFIDENTIAL stamps on legal documents.
What font is used for the stamp?
Helvetica Bold, which is a standard PDF built-in font embedded in all PDF readers. No external font embedding is needed, which keeps file size minimal. Custom font support is not available in this tool — for custom-font stamps, use the PDF Image Stamp tool with a pre-rendered PNG image of your stamp text.
Can I stamp with a logo or graphic instead of text?
Use the PDF Image Stamp tool for image-based stamps. It accepts PNG (with transparency) and JPEG files, and provides the same position, size, and opacity controls. PNG with a transparent background is strongly recommended for logo stamps.
