Privacy Policy

RankForge — Technical SEO Audit — Chrome extension. Last updated September 18, 2026.

The short version

This tool collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics and no advertising, and we run no server that receives your work. Everything you enter stays on your own device.

1. What is covered

This policy covers the RankForge — Technical SEO Audit Chrome extension (version 2.2.0). It sits alongside the site-wide privacy policy.

2. Data we collect

None. We do not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal or usage data, and we operate no server that receives your input.

The audit itself makes no network requests. The site crawler does: it fetches the pages you ask it to crawl directly from your browser to that site, and the results stay on your device.

3. What is stored on your device

So the tool remembers your setup between visits, the following is saved locally, via Chrome's extension storage:

  • Your scan history — the audits you have run, kept locally so you can reopen and compare them
  • Your settings and any target keywords you enter

If Chrome Sync is switched on, Chrome may sync the extension's settings across your own devices under your Google account. That is handled by Google under your Chrome settings and never reaches us. Clearing your browser data, or removing the extension, deletes everything listed above.

4. What the extension reads

  • The markup of the page in your active tab when you click Re-Scan: title, meta tags, headings, links, images and visible text

This reading happens inside your browser, only on the page you are looking at, and only to produce the result shown on screen. Nothing read from a page is sent to us, and nothing is kept beyond what section 3 lists.

5. Permissions and why they exist

  • sidePanel — Opens the audit in Chrome's side panel, next to the page you are auditing.
  • activeTab — Reads the page in the tab you are on when you click Re-Scan.
  • scripting — Injects the audit script — bundled inside the extension — into that tab to read its markup.
  • tabs — Knows which tab is active so the panel audits the right page.
  • storage — Saves your scan history, settings and target keywords on your own device.
  • host access to all sites — Lets you audit whichever site you open, including staging sites and competitors. A page is only read when you ask for a scan.

Site access is limited to:

  • Any http or https page you choose to audit. Chrome's own pages (chrome://, the Web Store) cannot be read by any extension

6. What we do not do

  • No analytics, tracking pixels, fingerprinting or advertising
  • No accounts, sign-in or email collection
  • No selling or sharing of data, because there is no data to sell
  • No sending the pages or numbers you work on to us — we never receive them
  • No remote code: the extension ships all of its code inside the package

7. Children

This is a general-purpose tool for people running a business or a website. It is not directed at children, and it collects no personal information from anyone.

8. Changes

If this policy changes materially, the "Last updated" date above changes with it, and the change is noted in the updates list on the tool page.
