How it works
The Image Watermarker overlays a logo, signature, or any secondary image onto a base photo — with controls for position, scale, and opacity. It's the standard workflow for photographers adding their logo, businesses adding brand marks to assets, and designers protecting work-in-progress images.
Image watermarks are harder to remove than text watermarks because they blend with the underlying photo content when placed thoughtfully (over busy textures, not solid color areas). A semi-transparent logo at 40–60% opacity in a corner is the industry-standard approach for preview images.
How to use it: upload your base image. Upload your watermark image (typically a PNG with transparent background — the transparency is respected). Set the position (corner, center, or custom X/Y coordinates), scale (percentage of base image width), and opacity. Preview in real time. Download.
PNG transparency: for best results, your watermark should be a PNG with a transparent background. The transparent pixels allow the base image to show through. If your logo is on a white background, use a PNG-with-transparency version or enable background removal.
Positioning strategy: bottom-right corner at 15% scale and 50% opacity is the most common single watermark placement. For preview images where you want to prevent unauthorized use, use the tiled text watermark tool instead — a single corner mark is easily cropped.
Multiple watermarks: the tool supports adding one watermark image. For multiple marks (e.g., logo + URL text), combine this tool with the Text Watermarker — add the image watermark first, then add text on top of the result.
Privacy: both your base image and watermark image are processed entirely in the browser Canvas API.
Frequently Asked Questions
- If your logo is a PNG with a white background (not a transparent background), the white rectangle is visible on dark images. Export your logo as a PNG with a transparent background from your design tool, and the watermark will blend correctly on any background color.
- 8–15% of the base image width is the standard range for corner logo watermarks. At 8%, the logo is a subtle brand mark. At 15%, it's a visible but non-intrusive credit. Avoid exceeding 20% unless it's an intentional large-format watermark.
- 40–60% opacity is the standard. At 40%, the logo is clearly visible but doesn't overwhelm the image. At 60%, it's more prominent and harder to remove by simple color-grading. Full opacity (100%) looks solid but unnatural and is easily cropped from corners.
- Yes. Select 'Custom Position' and click on the image preview to place the watermark where you want it. You can also type exact X/Y coordinates as percentages of the image dimensions.
